No. The first call or meeting, typically about 15 minutes, is on us. If your matter is a fit, we'll quote a flat fee or hourly arrangement before any work begins. No retainer required just to talk.
Yes. Communications during a prospective consultation are protected under California's attorney-client privilege rules, even if you ultimately decide not to engage us. We treat every inquiry as if you were already a client.
For litigation, we're admitted in California state and federal courts. For transactional work, contracts, IP, business formation, we regularly represent out-of-state and international clients with California-side interests. Federal IP matters (USPTO trademark and patent prosecution) are open nationwide.
Whatever you have. Contracts, demand letters, court papers, emails, a one-page summary you typed last night, all of it helps. If you have nothing in writing yet, that's fine too. We'd rather hear the story in your words than read a stack of paperwork first.
